C&S Wholesale Grocers Supports Junior Achievement
May 23, 2008
[Springfield, MA] Kathy Tranghese from C&S Wholesale Grocers presented a check today to support Junior Achievement programs. The mini-grant supporting “Our City, out youth Project” will help provide JA programs for third grade students in Westfield Schools. Through their sponsorship C&S Wholesale Grocers is helping JA promote the strengths of Westfield, and highlighting the role it plays in the local economy. Ms. Tranghese noted that the Westfield Freezer Facility for C&S Wholesale Grocers is proud to support JA because C&S is driven to make a difference within the communities they serve.
This year over 275 students from Munger Hill Elementary School participated in JA programs for the first time. Students involved in the Westfield Boys & Girls Club and the YMCA of Westfield also had the opportunity to participate in JA programs. Financial support and volunteer support from local businesses helps provide the students with enriching, age-appropriate economic education and career exploration programs.
JA offers educational programs that focus on seven key content areas: business, citizenship, economics, entrepreneurship, ethics/character, financial literacy, and career development. JA programs are offered at no cost to schools and community organizations.
