Junior Achievement Partners with RSVP Volunteer Program

[Pittsfield, MA]  This school year Junior Achievement of Western Massachusetts has partnered with the RSVP Volunteer Program of Pittsfield to offer JA programs to more students in Berkshire County. 

Jennifer Ruel, RSVP Volunteer Coordinator, helped to recruit many RSVP volunteers, including:  Julie Pelletier, Jean Ryan, Marge Gordon, Marilyn Margolis, Janet Monterosso, Mary Adler,  Ellen Mary Dagostino, Judy Douville, Sally Filkins, Angie Lingoski, Mary Como, Betty Sartori, Sheila Christiana, and Marion Kahn.

The RSVP volunteers have mainly focused their JA efforts in first grade classrooms in Pittsfield, including Capeless, Conte and Stearns Elementary Schools, but will be expanding into additional grade levels as well.  One RSVP volunteer, Marilyn Margolis, participated in a middle grade program at Lenox Memorial Middle High School.

JA and RSVP will be hosting an information session for current and future volunteers interested in getting involved and volunteering in the local area.  The information session will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 from 2-4pm at the RSVP office located at 16 Bartlett Avenue, Pittsfield.  To attend, please call 413-395-0107.

This year in Berkshire County more than 1,000 students will participate in JA programs from grades Kindergarten through grade Twelve.  To learn more about JA in Berkshire County visit www.jawm.org or contact the JA office at (413) 747-7670. JA programs are offered at no cost to local schools and community groups that serve children. Funding for JA programs is provided by donations from local businesses, foundation, individuals and special events.
