Palmer, MA —On Friday, June 8, over 130 golfers will turn out for Junior Achievement’s 20th Annual Golf Tournament and Crumpin’ Fox in Bernardston, MA. to support JA programs in Western Massachusetts. Each year local businesses generously participate in the event to raise money to support JA programs for students in grades K-12 in Western MA. The event traditionally raises funds to provide programming for over 1500 students.

Country Bank has been a longtime supporter of Junior Achievement programs which focus on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and career exploration/readiness. This year Country Bank is a Class Sponsor, providing JA Company Program to students in Ms. Etzweiler’s and Ms. Skowyra’s Business Program at Pathfinder Vocational, in Palmer.

“Country Bank supports JA because of their mission of empowering the children, our future leaders, with financial literacy,” said Phil Goncalves, Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending for Country Bank and JA of Western Massachusetts Board Member.

“Junior Achievement allows teacher to engage students beyond the classroom. They truly enjoy coming up with a product and seeing it come to fruition. I love seeing the lightbulb come on in the eyes of my students through this program. I would suggest this program for all children in order for them to live an entrepreneur life.” noted Vicky Etzweiler, Business Teacher at Pathfinder Vocational.

Jennifer Connolly, President of Junior Achievement of Western Massachusetts noted, “It is a pleasure and an honor to be able to work with companies like Country Bank to inspire and prepare our youth to own their economic future. Without the support of local businesses, participating in events such as the JA Golf Tournament, thousands of our area youth would not have access to JA programs.”
